FBA Welcomes the Cresco Families to the 2022 Peter Wilson Dinner Stage on November 18 at the Halifax Convention Centre

Join us this year for this year’s 25th Peter Wilson Dinner featuring the Cresco family. We will be celebrating our silver anniversary in high style on November 18 – 5:00 pm at the Halifax Convention Centre.

For over 30 years, the owners of Cresco, first-generation Canadians Hossein Mousavi and Taleb Abidali, and their team have built award-winning homes and communities across Halifax. The magic of this successful family-owned company is in its collaboration with customers, partners and a loyal network of builders and trades. Cresco is known for its relentless focus on quality and artistry in building homes and developing communities such as The Ravines of Bedford South and The Parks of West Bedford.

Whether building single-family homes, multi-unit residential or commercial properties, or working through master-planned developments, Cresco has a long-term perspective on land acquisition, partnerships, community building and the innovative use of design and building principles.

With over fifty industry and community awards and progressive, long-term thinking, Cresco is deeply committed to giving back, evidenced by its active participation and support of organizations such as the Cobequid Health Centre Foundation, Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation, Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation, Halifax YMCA, Nova Scotia Home Builders’ Association, Urban Development Institute, Halifax Partnership, Halifax Chamber of Commerce, and Family Business Atlantic. Cresco has also built lottery homes for multiple charities over the past two decades.

The Cresco family is an ardent supporter of FBA and is a past national Family Enterprise of the Year Award winner. Amanée Mousavi, Hossein’s daughter, served as FBA President from 2019 – 2021 and is an active peer group member along with Farhang Fotovat, Taleb’s son-in-law. We are truly honoured to share their family business story with you at our 25th anniversary dinner!

“The Peter Wilson Dinner has been a celebration of the success and contributions of family businesses for 25 years. Our family and employees have benefited tremendously by learning from others and sharing our own family business experience. My father, Peter, would be very proud of the event’s legacy and the contribution that it makes to the development of family businesses in the region.” David Wilson, son of the late Peter Wilson.

Peter Wilson is remembered annually at this event because he was one of the principal founders of our Association and was instrumental in the establishment of the inaugural dinner in 1996.  Since this very first dinner, we have been entertained and educated by well-known business leaders like: Scott McCain, John Risley, Paul and Rob Sobey, Derek and Giles Oland, Rob Steele, Andrew and Patrick Oland, Jon Stanfield, George Bishop, Tim Moore and in 2021 we welcomed Dennis Campbell to our Peter Wilson Dinner stage. While the dinner offers time to commemorate Peter and his contributions to the development of FBA-Atlantic it also provides guests with an opportunity to celebrate the successes of well-known entrepreneurs and hear about the challenges and successes they have encountered growing and operating a successful family business.

2021 Dinner

Our successful 24th Peter Wilson Dinner was held November 26, 2021 at the Westin Nova Scotia with our guest speaker, the amazing Mr. Dennis Campbell, CEO of Ambassatours and Murphy’s on the Water. Guests and sponsors were delighted to be able to gather for an in person event after nearly two years of having to postpone our much anticipated dinner.

Family Business Association – Atlantic’s current president, Mark Peapell, kicked off the event. Amanée Mousavi, FBA’s past president took the stage to speak and introduce Ali Massoudi, an executive from our event presenting sponsor, TD Bank Group. Ali introduced our guest speaker, Dennis Campbell, who gave a motivating talk. Ian Wilson then took questions from the in-person and virtual audience for Dennis. President Mark Peapell spoke at the end and closed out another successful Peter Wilson Dinner.

Dennis Campbell excites the attendees with his hilarious and moving presentation.
