FBA Peter Wilson Dinner – Roots to Routes – Press Release

“Roots to Routes” – Family Business Atlantic’s 28th Annual Peter Wilson Dinner Celebrates Legacy and Leadership in Motion

October 23, 2025, – Halifax, NS – Family Business Atlantic (FBA) is proud to announce the 28th Annual Peter Wilson Dinner, taking place Friday, November 7, 2025, at The Westin Nova Scotian, Halifax, celebrating the resilience, innovation, and deep community roots of Atlantic Canada’s family-owned enterprises.

This year’s theme, “Roots to Routes,” pays tribute to the enduring values and bold vision of the Cassidy Family, owners of Coach Atlantic, Maritime Bus, Ambassatours Cruise Corp, and T3 Transit, whose entrepreneurial journey has redefined regional transportation while staying true to their family’s PEI roots.

“The Cassidy family story captures exactly what makes family business thrive in Atlantic Canada—courage, creativity, and a commitment to community,” says Mark Peapell, President of Family Business Atlantic. “They’ve built something that moves people – literally and figuratively – across our region.”

From a single bus company in 2005 to a multi-division enterprise employing more than 500 Atlantic Canadians, the Cassidy family’s success is driven by purpose as much as progress. Their companies now operate more than 250 vehicles across the Maritimes, serving schools, tours, cruise ship shore excursions, municipalities, and daily commuters—while also managing growing agriculture and real estate ventures.

“Our businesses are not just about transportation,” says Mike Cassidy, founder and father. “They’re about connecting people, building communities, and driving opportunities in the region we call home.”

The evening will include a reception at 5:00 p.m. in the Atlantic Ballroom, followed by a three-course dinner and presentation from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the Commonwealth Ballroom. Guests will enjoy a night of storytelling, connection, and inspiration—honouring both the legacy of the late Peter Wilson, of Wilson Fuel Company Ltd., and one of FBA’s earliest champions, and the ongoing impact of family-owned enterprises that shape Atlantic Canada’s economy.

“The Peter Wilson Dinner has always been a celebration of what happens when family values meet business vision,” says David Wilson, son of the late Peter Wilson. “It’s about recognizing those who continue to grow their businesses while strengthening the communities they serve.”

The event has become a signature moment on the region’s business calendar – an annual gathering of entrepreneurs, community leaders, and families who continue to drive innovation, employment, and local prosperity across the Maritimes.
