Owners and HR professionals routinely face employment-related issues that can significantly affect their business. Our Presenter:

Sean Kelly is a partner at Stewart McKelvey’s Halifax office and practices management-side human resources, employment and labour law. He works with employers across a wide variety of industries and provides timely, strategic and practical advice. He regularly defends employers at all levels of Court in Nova Scotia and he handles all aspects of employment and labour law including:

  • Union avoidance;
  • Employment standards;
  • Human rights and accommodation;
  • Performance management and severance advice;
  • Wrongful and constructive dismissal litigation;
  • Workplace investigations;
  • Occupational health and safety issues, including prosecutions;
  • Policy development;
  • Employee benefit issues;
  • Workplace and business restructuring;
  • Workers’ compensation;
  • Collective agreement interpretation, collective bargaining, grievance and interest arbitrations.

In addition to his busy practice, Sean is the Vice-Chair of NSCAD University and is an avid sailor and surfer.
