Join us for a special evening celebrating an enterprise that has been blooming for 160 years. This year, we honour the legacy of Halifax Seed, and their family business story deeply rooted in resilience and community.
From its beginnings in 1866 as a small seed merchant, to becoming a trusted name across Atlantic Canada, Halifax Seed has weathered generations of change. In 1925, first-generation Fred Tregunno didn’t just see a business, but saw potential for a thriving future. What followed was a family journey rooted in sacrifice and an enduring belief in growing something meaningful together.
Through loss, growth, and renewal, each generation has stepped forward, carrying not just the business, but the values behind it. Today, fourth-generation leaders Emily and Ali Tregunno continue that tradition, proving that their story is still being written.
Behind every seed is a new beginning.
Behind every family business is a legacy worth sharing.
And behind Halifax Seed is a story that reminds us all that growth takes time, care, and people who believe in what they’re building.
Come celebrate the past, connect with the present, and be inspired by a legacy continuing to bloom.
“The Peter Wilson Dinner has been a celebration of the success and contributions of family businesses for 25 years. Our family and employees have benefited tremendously by learning from others and sharing our own family business experience. My father, Peter, would be very proud of the event’s legacy and the contribution that it makes to the development of family businesses in the region.” – David Wilson, son of the late Peter Wilson
